ICTs for indigenous knowledge preservation

We recently had an article published in the ICT Update magazine, in an issue focused on ‘Crowdsourcing and engagement’. Our article was on how libraries in South Africa are using ICTs and community journalists to collect indigenous knowledge.

ICT Update is a bimonthly printed bulletin, a web magazine, and an accompanying email newsletter and mobile website. Each issue of ICT Update focuses on a specific theme relevant to ICTs for agricultural and rural development in African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries.

Oral History Workshop for the Luthuli Museum

Last week we ran a really successful oral history workshop for the Luthuli Museum, who are embarking on a fascinating social history of the families of Groutville, the township where the museum is located. We wish them the best of luck and can’t wait to see the results.

Seminar on case studies & good practice: Perspectives on preservation and promotion of audiovisual cultural heritage in France and South Africa

The two day seminar on case studies and good practice organized by Ina and DOXA in Cape Town on 13 & 14 November 2012, Perspectives on preservation and promotion of audiovisual cultural heritage in France and South Africa starts tomorrow. Niall McNulty will be presenting in the session ‘Case studies of regional projects for knowledge transfer’ on Wednesday.
