Niall McNulty recently ran an oral history workshop for Cultural and Heritage Tourism students at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The workshop forms part of a larger digital, cultural memory project, focused on the area of Inanda, north of Durban. The project aims to collect and disseminate oral histories and intangible heritage and link this to cultural tourism initiatives.
The workshop took the form of an informative presentation (click here to download) followed by practical interview exercises.

Lulu Dube
Mwelela Cele interviews Lulu Dube as part of the Memories of Inanda documentary. Lulu discusses her father John Langalibalele Dube, the founding of the African National Congress and life in Inanda. John Dube (1871 – 1946) was a South African essayist, philosopher, educator, politician, publisher, editor, novelist and poet.
Musawenkosi Cele
Mwelela Cele interviews Musawenkosi Cele as part of the Memories of Inanda documentary. Mr Cele discusses his ancestral home, which housed the first doctor’s sugery and post office in Inanda.
