This is a great project run by the New Zealand government which aims to provide a central search facility for all digitized content about New Zealand.  It doesn’t host or make copies of the data but rather creates a database using metadata submitted by collections with New Zealand digital content.  So, you use the central search engine which then links to content in the respective archive or database.  Clever!  And they make use of social media and custom-built apps to make the content relevant.

There are loads of separate digitized collections in South Africa (see the Apartheid archives at DISA) – let’s do something similar.
